Thanks for this Rustic Flannel Neck Roll free pattern. I’m making the throw from the April/May 2009 issue, pg. 54, for a grown grandson, and now he can have a pillow to go with it.

I’ve been a subscriber of QUILT for some years now, and find the patterns different and easy to do with great instructions.

I have a question…..in the directions for this quilt it says to “Stitch-in-the-ditch” on each seam. What is that exactly? I’m a new quilter and don’t know all the terminology. I’m sure there might be a lot of people out there just like me. Thanks for your help.

    Tina,

“Stitch-in-the-ditch” is a term used for quilting in the seams of your quilt top. With your backing, batting, and quilt top layered together, stitch in the seams (“ditch”) of the top through all three of the layers. The quilting on the top is hidden in the seam.
For more information, you can Google “stitch-in-the-ditch” and find many more “How To” lessons for this technique.

I have a question on the neck roll pillow pattern. How do you finish the ends that you tie? Do you just leave the cut ends, or hem them or rag them. I can’t tell from the picture.
Or am I not understanding how the pattern works.
    Thanks

    Nancy,

I would turn under a small hem on each end to avoid raveling. I will see that this correction is made to the pattern.
