QUILT
Issue #82
Sept/Oct 2007
Each season brings a new pleasure, but autumn is one of my favorites!
Dear Quilting Friends,
Here we are at the end of summer and in the early stages of fall. I really enjoy this time of the
year when the leaves start to change and the air becomes crisp. As our college-age son is getting ready
to go back to school, I'm looking ahead to give our quilters some exciting seasonal projects. This issue
is filled with quilts that reflect the upcoming months, such as falling leaves and flying geese quilts, a
festive Santa pillow and a unique Christmas tree skirt. Our Fabric Stash on page 12 is a celebration of
the holidays with four quilt blocks, each reflecting a seasonal event. We even have a Christmas Wish
List on page 26 loaded with great gift-giving ideas for quilters!
One of my great joys has been to pass my love of quilting on to my daughter and daughters-in-law.
I'm delighted that in this issue of QUILT we have highlighted Marie Osmond, whose passion for sewing
was passed on to her from her own mother. We feature a beautiful quilt on page 20 made with Marie's
Heirloom Garden fabric line.
Someone recently commented, "Nice people are nice!" I have to smile when I hear this statement because
it's simply stated and it's true. Quilters are nice people! The members of the Stitch-in-Time Quilt
Guild each made a block from a pink ribbon fabric collection. The resulting quilt is being auctioned
off to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Gentlemen Prefer Blocks, on page 90, is an inspiring
write-up on a dozen burly quilters who are donating the proceeds of their handiwork to the American
Heart Association ("Hats off" to all our male readers! We'd love to hear from more of you.)
I could easily go on about all the wonderful features in this issue of QUILT, but I'll be content to
let you browse it on your own. Have a joy-filled season—no matter which holidays you may be celebrating!
Until next time,
