Amma’s Garden from Red Rooster Fabrics

The vivid poppies in Gudrun’s new collection look just like the ones she remembers from her childhood. Gudrun explains, “When I was a little girl in Iceland, I spent a lot of time at my Grandma’s house (Amma means Grandma in Icelandic). Her garden was an adventuresome place. The Icelandic poppy grows like weeds in many places in Iceland, including my Grandma’s garden. I remember being allowed to pick the colorful flowers that were growing in places they weren’t supposed to, like the walkways and the yard. That was heaven for a girl who was used to making bouquets and wreaths out of dandelions and clovers; adding the striking colors of the poppies was like giving an artist paint.” Gudrun’s three vivid poppy florals are complemented by a beige stripe and two multi-colored stripes, a tone-on-tone wavy plaid, and a viney texture. Just picture this collection transformed into a pretty quilt to brighten a sunroom! To see more of the collection, visit your local quilt shop or go to Red Rooster Fabrics.
