Simple Quilts & Sewing – Spring 2012

We’ve enjoyed selecting projects for this issue that are as fresh and welcoming as spring. You’ll find both quilting on the lighter side and easy sewing projects. If you are a new sewist, we have so many beginner patterns for you, such as pretty yo-yo pillows or an easy casserole carrier. If you are a more experienced quilter, take a break with fast quilting projects that can be completed in an hour, afternoon or relaxed weekend.

At a quick glance, you’ll discover that there is something for everyone…friends and family alike, plus many projects for the home such as the “Game Night” quilt. Is a summer trip on your calendar? Try stitching some personalized luggage tags and a passport holder or even a set of cool striped beach towels.

Sit down with a refreshing drink and take some time to look through this issue of Simple Quilts & Sewing. All the projects have been photographed in beautiful settings, so we hope you’ll feel like you’ve had a mini vacation by just turning these pages.

We trust you’ll find that the joy of sewing will always be a special (and fun) part of your life.

Happy stitching!

Please let me know asap as there is a pattern I love that is featured in the magazine but I am unable to find it anywhere. I would gladly order it but do not see an area on this website to do so. I picked up my copy a few days ago, and I have already made a few a projects. The hipster pattern is fabulous, and the perfect size for my running mornings. I think I am going to make another for just running errands. And I’ve needed luggage tags, so this issue is so timely. I can’t wait to make the moving mosaic or retro picnic quilts…I think I’ll start NOW!!! Thanks Quiltmag!!

First time I ever bought this magazine. It really inspired me. I made the diaper bag on page 84. Great directions and it turned out awesome!! I used camoflauged fabrics – WOW! It is a great bag – lots of pockets and how cool that a Dad can carry a masculine looking diaper bag for his son!!! Next one I make will have beefier handles – other than that – this bag is a winner!! Looking forward to other projects to make in this magazine!

have a question on the diaper bag. is there some way I could contact the designer? Susan Terpin

When is the next issue going to be available? This magazine is much better, than just quilting, because it offers the best of sewing and quilting!

Sealed with a Kiss, Cosmetic Bag page 66. Just made 12 of these for Easter gifts. Great project for additional free motion quilting practice. Instructions are complete and easy to follow. The bags turned out so cute! 1/2 yard of both outer and lining will make 4 bags – so the projects are economical as well. Since they do not take long to make – its easy on you time as well. Really cute!!

I’m looking for the block by Deborah Hearn called Ring Around the Rosy. It was in an article in Quilt Mag. I do not know the date. The article was called The Games Children Play and had 3 blocks on it. Follow the Leader, Hopscotch, and Ring Around the Rosy. It instructed the reader to go to for directions on how to make all three blocks. Please help me find the directions. Thank you Marilyn
