QUILT, Issue #110 – April/May 2010

Sharing a Love of Quilting

Dear Quilting Friends,

I have a story to tell. My daughter recently sent me this email about my 6-year-old granddaughter, Georgia Grace (GG):

Dear Mom,

Tonight I was tucking GG in bed, and she has a habit of hiding toys and stuff under her pillow. Usually before we pray I reach under there and pull out whatever treasures she’s stashed. Tonight I pulled out a magazine and it was an old issue of QUILT.

Needless to say, I laughed until I had tears in my eyes! And guess what I gave GG for her birthday…a sewing machine! What pleasure for one generation to share the love of quilting with the next.

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, this spring issue is filled with inspiration and tributes to those special women. There are several quilts that are perfect for a Mother’s Day gift, and with Father’s Day fast approaching, we even have one for Dad. We have lots of sunny flower projects and even a clever garden tote bucket just in time for gardening season. Need a baby quilt? Try the adorable Sweet Baby Dreams quilt, and for that young cowboy or girl, you’ll love the lively Horsing Around bed quilt pattern. If you’re looking for a way to use your scraps, consider the yummy Red Scrap Stew quilt. And there’s so much more in this issue…how to create a mosaic tile quilt, solutions from experts for common sewing room problems, and the story behind the great vision of blind fabric designers.

So relax and enjoy our April/May issue, photographed at the lovely Sea Spray beach house in Corolla, North Carolina (see twiddy.com). Showing quilts in beautiful locations like this one is just part of our continuous commitment to offer our readers the very best projects in great settings with clear and exact instructions.

Keep on quilting!

Debbie

How funny! I had no idea this was the Outer Banks when I saw it, my family loves Twiddy too! I’m bringing our quilt to the OBX when we go this summer. Just for the picture

    Thanks

I just purchased the April/May 2010 issue and the Daytripper Bag doesn’t have a finished size. I am thinking about making it for my daughter for a diaper bag.

The Daytripper Bag is approximately 12″ x 16″ when finished.

    Keep Quilting!

Is there a way to get a copy of the pattern for the Daytripper Bag from the April/May Quilt magazine. I have made 4 bags and get request for the pattern all the time. I would like to be able to tell them where they can purchase the pattern.
    Thanks
