QUILT – April/May 2012

Dear friends,

Whether it is cleaning out my spice cupboard or preparing my flower beds for some spring plantings, I just have to stand back afterwards and admire the end results. If you also like the feeling of getting a fresh start, you are going to love our new home decor feature. Our photo stylist, Elizabeth Demos, gives a room a makeover, taking us from start to finish with tips on getting a fresh look with matching quilts and pillows and just the right accessories.

Have you ever noticed how the right sashing or border fabrics can either make or break a quilt? Kaffe Fassett offers some creative ideas about approaching this part of your quilt. Learn how the virtue of patience plays a role in seeing your quilt design shine.

If you are intrigued by a quilt that shows depth and dimension, see an ancient floor in Italy recreated as a fabric masterpiece. I think you’ll agree that it’s rather amazing! Our Last Stitch, “Spring Poppies,” is also drawn from real world inspiration—Gwen Hatchette depicts the yearly fresh start of her garden.

There are 18 wonderful patterns in this valuepacked issue filled with techniques and tips for all talents. I’m excited for you to experience the creative energy behind these projects—photographed on location.

Enjoy!
