I recently read Emily Dickinson’s poem on hope and have borrowed a few lines to share with you: “Hope” is the thing with feathers-/that perches in the soul-/and sings the tune without the words-/and never stops at all…
How good to live in that cycle of hope! To see that spring is around the corner when tulip push up through the frosted earth. To salvage an antique design with its rebirth into a beautiful quilt. To extend comfort to those who are hopeless by offering a ray of sunshine.
I’m very excited for you to see this special issue since it is filled with beautiful stories and cheerful projects that reflect this season’s anticipation. There’s a fun flower project to make with a circle of quilters and ways to get involved in helping others through Quilting Friends and the Last Stitch. Learn a simple stitch & flip tulips technique and how to take it easy on the curves with reversed appliqué. Kaffe Fassett gives his interesting perspective on dots and how they never go out of fashion. Looking for something for kids?
