Contributing Designers: Julia LaBauve and Tammy Silvers (Outside the Lines Designs)
Julia: I took my first quilting class from Tammy Silvers eight years ago so that I could improve my general sewing skills. I became so fascinated with piecing and quilting that I have never sewed a garment since. Looking at a piece of fabric and finding the best way to incorporate it in a quilt has me hooked! I prefer to work with bright and intense colors, but if the motif of a lighter colored fabric catches my attention, I’m willing to “sacrifice” and work with it.
Tammy: I’ve been quilting for – wow – sixteen years, ever since my sister-in-law asked me to take a class with her. I love the variety and freedom of expression quilting provides – and absolutely am enthralled with the design and construction aspect of quilting. Bring me a stack of fabric (preferably batiks or brights) and a blank design wall and I’m good to go!
