Contributing Designer: Yolanda Fundora

Yolanda Fundora is a textile and quilt designer, fine artist, graphic designer and children’s book illustrator.

She currently licenses her fabric designs with Blank Quilting. She is co-author of two books with quilter Barbara Campbell: Holiday Quilts and Fuse It and Be Done! a primer about all things fusible.

Her fine art forms part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This museum was also the venue for a one-woman show in 2004-2005 titled Toward a Digital Aesthetic: the Art of Yolanda V. Fundora.

She is co-author of two books with quilter Barbara Campbell: Holiday Quilts and Fuse It and Be Done! a primer about all things fusible.

She has illustrated 2 children’s books. Her favorite: A Very Smart Cat/ Una gata muy inteligente (with writer, Mario Picayo) was released officially on September 21, 2008 at the Cat’n’Around festival in Catskill, NY. She also has published a fine art book with text by botanical lecturer, Marta McDowell, A Garden Alphabetized (for your viewing pleasure). The Garden Alphabetized series was also the focus of her Featured Artist spot for Apple iCards in 2005.

UrbanAmish is the name she gives her quilt design philosophy.

“We are at an unusual point in textile history where for the first time fabrics are being developed specifically for use in quilts. There is a synergy possible that we are just beginning to tap between the quilter and the textile designer…and all the hybrid creatures in between.”
