Dear Quilting Friends,

I must say that it doesn't feel like summer if I haven't been to the beach. In our family, summer vacations at the seashore were as natural as breathing. So I was delighted when QUILT magazine traveled to Tybee Island near Savannah, Georgia, to photograph this issue. You'll find 14 quilts in wonderful summer settings: on the sandy beach, on open porches, and in the little cottages of this quaint seaside town.

Our summery issue is packed with quilts that say, "Relax, enjoy the sun, and take time to smell the flowers!" Always inspiring Jackie Robinson from Eureka, Montana, talks about her heartfelt devotion to design and offers a glimpse into her newest fabric collection. She also includes a quilt pattern called Pick Me that she designed just for you. Daren Redman, a quilt artist from Brown County, Indiana, shows us the steps involved in developing her art quilts and then shares an easy art quilt pattern that anyone can do.
