Whirlwind Vortex

By:  Karl McDaniel

Carthage, MO

This is called the Whirlwind Vortex quilt. I saw this quilt in QUILT Magazine, the June/July issue . I admired it so much that I started plans to make it. I made 24 templates of plexiglass to go from the center of quilt to outer edge of the vortex.. I made the applique parts out of aluminum (I used to be a sheet metal worker before I retired.) I quilted it myself. My wife and I wanted you to see it because your magazine is such a big influence in our lives as we both have a wonder hobby of quilting.

    Karl,
This quilt is truly AMAZING! You have a great talent…and a great wife who encouraged you to share this with us! Both are keepers!
