Stills From a Life 17

by Dominie M. Nash

Bethesda, Maryland
USA

Techniques:

Machine appliquéd and quilted

Design Source:

Still-life photograph

Artist Statement:

“The objects with which we surround ourselves range from the mundane to the exquisite. No matter where on the continuum they fall, they often become invisible. The challenge is to look at them with a fresh eye, in the context of how they will contribute to an interesting composition. It is often the insignificant objects which turn out to have the most interesting shapes or patterns. The search for these objects becomes an important part of the design process, while putting one back in touch with one’s surroundings.
