You Can Judge a Book by Its Cover…
The old adage is actually ”You CAN’T judge a book by its cover,” but when you’re browsing the magazine shelves at the store, we understand that the cover of a magazine might compel you to pick it up or pass it by.
Thus, as you might imagine, we spend a lot of time talking about cover quilts at the Quilt magazine offices. As we commission projects, shoot the photos, and prepare the quilts for publication, we are constantly debating cover possibilities. Bright batiks or reproduction prints, easy patterns or complex designs, scrappy or not…we consider them all. We also recognize that not every cover will speak to every reader, so we like to mix it up. You’ll notice the June-July issue featured a star/log cabin pattern done in reproduction prints, and our current August-September issue sparkles with bold colors and a big-block design. A little something for everyone…
So here’s your chance to weigh in—leave a comment below and tell us what type of cover quilt appeals to you—we’re curious! You can also share which Quilt cover from the past year has been your favorite, and to make that easier, we’re showing them all right here.
