There’s No Place Like Home
Traveling is one of my favorite things about what I do, but it’s always good to get back home after being away. Last week was a whirlwind of activities for me at Fall Market in Houston. I got to see old friends and meet new people, turn in a concept for my first line of fabric and see my quilts in different booths there. I had two in the Timeless Treasures booth—ooh how I love working with batiks!
I taught a class on Monday morning. These are really fun classes, but they only last an hour and a half, so we have to really tear through the material. I had much of the cutting and some of the pressing done so the pressing stations wouldn’t clog up. A good time was had by all, and these two students completely finished their projects! The lovely lady on the right came all the way from Australia!
The last hour and a half of the show were free for me to go see the quilts, which had been hanging there the whole time. But about 1/3 to 1/2 way through the aisles, my feet reminded me that it would be better if I kept my work fresh and didn’t go see the rest of them. My head immediately agreed that I could be tempted to inadvertently do work based on someone else’s ideas, so I went to find a nice place to sit and rest a bit.
Of course, I am always distracted by beautiful plants and these were in the sky bridge between the hotel and the convention center.
This was the first time I’d seen more than the back and the inside of the convention center in Houston and it’s truly a beautiful city. This is the view from my room. Thank you, C&T!
Bosco is thrilled to have me home and now will not leave my side for a week or so!
