The Quilt List
You can take the title of this blog in two ways.
1. First, do you have a quilt list? Do you keep a record of all the quilts you’ve made, along with photos of each? When I first began quilting, my mom bought me a quilt journal.
It’s a simple concept: on each spread of pages, you adhere a photo of your project on the left and add information on the right (date made, made for, comments, and thoughts). I love looking back through it and reflecting on the different quilts I’ve made and who I’ve given them to. Here are a few of my favorites:

I’m always a bit behind (my last entry is January 2008, and I have at least eight more items to photograph and record. Something else for the never-ending to-do list.
If you don’t have a means of recording your quilts, I recommend you start, especially if you give many of your quilts away. It’s nice to have a tangible memory of everything you’ve made by hand and heart.
2. The second way to take this blog title is as a very cheesy (and none-too-obvious) take-off on the concept of a Bucket List. (If you haven’t seen the movie, starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, I recommend it!) What’s on your Quilt List? Do you have a mental or actual list of quilts that you plan to do someday? Though for me there’s some crossover, I consider this list to be different than a to-do list, which I blogged about around the New Year (and still have made very little progress on).
This is a list of quilts you’ve always wanted to make, whether it’s a specific technique, or for a specific location, such as a guest bed. A list like this is a good way to keep you focused as you plan your next project, and also to keep improving yourself as a quilter. Here’s my Quilt List; what’s yours?
1. Paper pieced New York Beauty (I’ve already started but make very slow progress)
2. Another landscape quilt
3. A quilt with curves
4. A quilt using a fantastic bundle of blue, green, and tan batiks I bought a few years back
5. A beautiful, complex-looking applique quilt in the style of Ricky Tims
