QUILT Magazine Asks…

What has been your most recent quilting “adventure”, “challenge” or “idea”?

***********************************************************

“A few years ago, when I began designing fabrics with Maywood Studio, we introduced my original concept of a Split Stripe.  That’s a stripe that has a motif, and the base colors change under the center of the motif.  Over the years we’ve used that stripe in LOTS of ways beyond simply borders.  We’ve found it can cut into all sorts of shapes and provide lots of different design uses.  And – that search for uses of the stripe continues.  Hopefully you saw the ads in QUILT Magazine about our pattern design challenge.  That contest runs until June 15th, so you can certainly jump in and compete . . .  there’s lots of time left!  Details are at: http://www.animasquilts.com/SplitStripe.html

Many of the new designs we’re introducing at Quilt Market feature the Split Stripe, though a brand new idea for its use popped up as I was working on Ruffled Stars.  We used TWO rows of motif, creating a much wider frame –  13″ instead of 6″.

I think the new use is really fun –  and love the results!”

Happy Trails,

Jackie Robinson
