A Room with a View…

I’ve talked about my sewing studio on this blog before. I got incredibly lucky when we moved into this house 4 years ago-I got a room of my own, with windows on three sides, just for all my sewing and craft stuff. And it will never be commandeered into another more full-time purpose (such as a bedroom) because it was added on to the house at some point and doesn’t have air conditioning or consistent heat. Which means, of course, that on really frigid or sweltering days, it’s less than comfortable, but hey, it’s my own room. I’ll deal with it!

This is my favorite time of year in my studio (and yes, a couple years ago I upgraded the room’s name from ”craft room” to ”studio” because I love how ”professional” it sounds). Not only is the temperature perfect, but I have a gorgeous flowering tree of some kind outside one set of windows. For 3 or 4 short days, all I can see are beautiful pink blooms with blue sky shining behind. This weekend the tree was in prime form. Check it out:

However, at the moment, that’s the only thing of beauty in my studio. Right now the room itself is a disaster area; the result of too many projects going at once combined with a visits from a spirited 2-year-old who thinks emptying bins and shelves of fabric is lots of fun. In fact, even though it’s embarrassing, I’m going to post some photos of it. Are there any kindred spirits out there? I dare someone to post pictures of a messier sewing room!

If you have a messy sewing room and you’re brave enough to share, post a photo on the wall of our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Quilt-Magazine/187279727971589) or email it to me (lisa.e.ruble@gmail.com) and we’ll post another blog entry of more messiness!

    Am I eligible, Lisa?
I have half a mind to climb up there and shoot it.
